The Project

Birtwistles Catering Butchers deliver quality meat across the length and breadth of the UK, 365 days a year. They operate from three sites and handle over 1300 orders each day all of which are selected, checked, packed and dispatched by 6am each day. Key were tasked with providing services to the site in Manchester which was extended to enhance meat production capability and provide further office space.

Project Objectives

The objective of the new extension was to enhance production at the facility with the team at Key given the goal of designing and delivering the mechanical and HVAC services to serve the equipment within, as with any food manufacturing facility attention was needed to the environment within these areas.

Challenges

Being such a busy facility careful planning had to take place to ensure the adjacent operations were not affected. As the facility contained high care areas experience from the team at Key was required to ensure the correct installation requirements and standards were met.

Solution

Key Integrated Services provided consultation services with the client and construction team to develop a design that suited their needs. New ventilation systems were installed in stainless steel along with all heating, cooling and domestic services required. Compressed air and a new hygiene system were also designed and installed to complete the installation.

The Results

The project was delivered to the client to the highest standard and snag free. Production was increased at the facility and Key were retained to maintain the services they installed, a complete success for all parties involved.
