Derbyshire Probation Service
As part of the Criminal Justice System, the Derbyshire Probation Service employs almost 870 staff and supervise around 6,800 offenders at any one time, who have been assessed as being low and medium risk of harm cases. These include offenders on community orders, in prison, or released on licence to serve the remainder of their sentence in the community.
Project Objectives
Due to the age and condition of their existing premises the Derbyshire Probation Service decided to relocate. The objective was to fit out a vacant, modern three storey office to the requirements of the client.
Challenges
Located on the banks of the River Derwent, access to the rear façade of the building required special safe methods of work to be adopted. Key Integrated Services utilised the expertise of one of its access equipment partners to ensure works were completed safely. Noise levels had to be no more than NR30 in interview rooms which required careful design and selection of HVAC equipment.
Solution
Key Integrated Services carried out full detailed design of new heat recovery VRF systems and heat recovery ventilation systems overseen by a BMS system which controlled the rest of the building’s services. Reporting to the client’s consultant, Key Integrated Services added in CO2 control of the ventilation systems to optimise performance of the systems and reduce running costs where possible.
The Results
The end result was a modern, inviting workspace that provided great office facilities and a full array of functional spaces to enable safe interaction with the offenders under the Probation Services supervision.
