Arco, the market leading supplier of PPE equipment in the UK had a requirement for a new 20,439m² extension. The building houses additional warehouse and logistics capabilities, doubling Arco’s capacity. The extension, which will be linked to the existing building, has been designed to optimise the space, having a 19m internal height and the ability to store around 40,000 pallets.
Project Objectives
The primary objective was to deliver the mechanical services installations to the completely new extension including warehouse heating & office services installations.
Challenges
One notable challenge was to be able to heat the space without impeding on the floor to ceiling racking system which spanned the space.
Solution
KeyIS adopted externally mounted gas fired air handling units with ductwork serving strategically positioned jet nozzles to throw air across the space. A network of de-stratification fans was installed at high level in the 19m high area.
The Results
The project was a complete success and handed over on time to the client.
