INEOS
INEOS, a British multi-national chemicals company had a requirement to expand their hand sanitiser division in response to the recent COVID19 world pandemic. They chose to convert existing space at their Newton Aycliffe site from a stores building into a state-of-the-art combined production/stores facility, and begin delivering up to a million bottles for free to the health service. With the assistance of KeyIS, the site was set up in ten days to produce hand sanitiser to World Health Organisation (WHO) standards.
Project Objectives
The installation of electrical services, electric heating, sanitary ware and air conditioning to suit the new layout of the facility.
Challenges
Due to the worldwide COVID 19 pandemic, the main challenge of this scheme was the fast-track programme in a live working environment with the wider site, inclusive of increasing capacity to the main LV switchgear whilst minimising down time, to not only this particular facility, but also surrounding areas and buildings.
Solution
Extensive investigative work was undertaken to assess the impact of the LV switch gearworks and KeyIS worked extremely closely with all stakeholders to keep downtime to a minimum by utilising prefabrication services. All new distribution equipment including switch and distribution boards were pre-assembled and pre-populated and, in most cases, wired prior to arrival on site reducing downtime by circa 50%.
The Results
A fantastic new facility fit for purpose, taking full advantage of modern technology, harnessing energy efficiency with automatic control systems installed throughout.
