Viridor
Viridor required the installation of new conveyors, shredder, hoppers, and a baler on to an existing glass recycling line to enable recycling of aluminium bottle tops. They also required the installation of a new emergency stop system via a Pilz relay to be integrated into the existing emergency stop system and the design, manufacture, and install of a bespoke control system, via a PLC programmer.
Project Objectives
Each new piece of equipment was standalone; therefore, we needed to design and manufacture a new bespoke control system. Also, the existing aged SCADA control system was designed and manufactured in Germany and we had to integrate this with the new control system. The installation although within a cordoned off CDM area, was still in a live recycling plant, therefore methodical planning was required.

Solution
Working closely with the site’s engineering department, we designed and manufactured a bespoke control system including PLC programming. We also successfully altered the programming on the existing SCADA system to integrate the new systems together.
The Results
The project was completed on time and to budget and the new equipment integrated successfully into the existing line to enable recycling of aluminium bottle tops. The client was so pleased with the completed project that they have since given us other projects to complete and many more to tender.
