Vitacress
Established nearly 70 years ago, Vitacress are one of Europe’s leading suppliers of fresh produce, specialising in watercress, salads and fresh herbs. Employing 1500 people with farms in the UK, Portugal, Germany and Spain, KeyIS were delighted to be employed to assist with the investment strategy at their site in Andover UK to refurbish the facility to help increase production.
Project Objectives
The objective was for KeyIS to develop the client’s performance specification into a workable design to fit in with the overall refurbishment being carried out in various areas of the site. To be carried out over various phases, parts of the site were to be either refurbished or built from new.
Challenges
Being a large and complex site, the team at Key Integrated Services had to understand how the site functioned to enable the phased approach of the construction to take place and not affect the day to day operations of the facility. This involved completing certain elements out of hours and controlling break ins to existing services at times where overall production would not be affected.
Solution
Key Integrated Services developed the design, taking into account that the live operation of the site had to be maintained. Working with the client’s representatives and completing surveys and validations of the existing services allowed for a complete picture to be formed. A wide array of services from supply and extract ventilation, compressed air, hot and cold water, Glycol cooling water and a building management system were installed to form a complete installation.
The Results
The project was completed in November 2016 on time and on budget with the client and their team happy enough to employ Key Integrated Services on a number of subsequent projects at the same site.
