The Project

Established in 1984 in North Wales, The Traditional Welsh Sausage Company (Edwards of Conwy) is a specialist Welsh Butcher located in the historic town of Conwy. The project involved the extension of their existing facility by adding a fourth production line with the latest state-of-the-art equipment.

Project Objectives

The objective of the extension was to ramp up production of its popular range of beef burgers, meatballs, bacon and gammon to more than 80 tonnes per week. KeyIS worked closely with the client to develop the HVAC, mechanical and electrical scope to meet their requirements and budget before being appointed to carry out the full M&E installation.

Challenges

The factory had to remain in production during the works and had to be carried out adjacent to a live production environment. The Team at KeyIS have vast experience in undertaking installations under these conditions, so by working closely with the client were able to expedite the works without impacting production.

Solution

Key Integrated Services provided initial CapEx budgets and scope development before producing performance specifications and detailed designs with the client and the surrounding construction team to ensure the requirements were met. Utilising services from the existing infrastructure and providing new services including Chilled water, Refrigeration, HVAC, compressed air, BMS controls, Fire Alarm & Security, LV Distribution, Lighting and small power.

The Results

The project was completed on time to meet the clients increased production targets and has led to additional works from the client. The project from conception to completion was delivered in 6 months and was a complete success for both us and the client.
