Exchange Station, Liverpool
A large office consortium located within the heart of the financial district in Liverpool. Forming part of a £7m commitment to on-going building development, the core area amenities throughout each building were remodelled to suit modern standards.
Project Objectives
As part of extensive core area refurbishment works, Key were commissioned to design and build a new domestic water services and above ground drainage Infrastructure to meet occupant and building demand.
Challenges
As the building was largely occupied by number of established businesses throughout the building, this meant that the works needed to be planned and executed to suit their needs. Bearing this in mind, Key made it their priority to ensure hot and cold-water amenities were always made available for each tenant during the refurbishment.
Solution
To reduce potential downtime risk, due to a loss of water supply into the building, a number of cold water storage tanks, supplemented by booster sets that were Installed to serve the primary rising mains and each secondary core area. This safe guard approach to the design meant that the building was not only protected against such an event but also benefitted from greater service consistency and stability as a result. In addition, new hot and cold-water plant, and associated pipework, together with the replacement of existing above ground drainage systems were Installed to suit revised core area toilet and new shower area layouts.
The Results
The project was successfully delivered in January 2018 and fully met programme, budget and client expectations and is something that Key can be truly proud to be a part of.
